Mr T. Mackenzie, Lord Blyth, and many New Zealanders, farewelled Sir Joseph Ward at Victoria station. Lady Ward and Miss Ward will remain for several months.
Major General Godley, accompanied by Mrs Godley, left Wellington by the Aorangi last evening for Frisco, en route to England, to attend the manoeuvres. The General also hopes to inspect the service schools of the American Army while in the United States, and will return to New Zealand about the end of the year.
Miss McKeon, who is severing her connection with the firm of Messrs Morey and Son in view of her approaching marriage, was entertained at tea last night at the Medina Tea Rooms by a number of girl friends, on whose behalf Miss A. Waddell presented Miss McKen with a silvermounted oak tray.
The Mayor (Mr W. P. Kirkwood) received a final message of farewell by last evening’s mail, from Dr. Carbery on the eve of his departure by the s.s. Surrey for the Old Land. The doctor wrote feelingly of the kindness of his many friends and the good wishes extended to him when departing from Stratford. He desired to say “An Revoir” to all friends, and would look forward with keen pleasure when “after a while I shall return to take up my life again in what is now my home, good old Taranaki. '
