MEAT FOR AMERICA.
A STRINGENT ORDER
(Received 11.15 a.m.) Washington, June 19. Alarmed at tho growth of the Aus
tralian meat trade, the Department of. Agriculture has issued an older that every piece of meat imported from Australia must be examined by local inspectors. Heretofore, the shipments have been passed on proof being furnished of an examination having been made of a few specimens taken at random. The new order means a delay of three days while the examination is proceeding, thus adding considerably to the cost of unloading. The Ventura has arrived from San Francisco with a cargo of 1200 packages of meat.
