BUTTER IN COOL STORE

The following figures show the quantity of butter in cool store at various ports throughout the Dominion on the 15th:—Auckland, 16,622 boxes; New Plymouth, 12,172 boxes; Patea, 4033 boxes; Wellington, 13,853 boxes; Lyttelton, 4184 boxes; Dunedin, 3012 boxes; total, 54,176 boxes; total at June 30, 1912, 51,035 boxes. A CONFIRMED LAW-BREAKER. Gisborne, June 16. "I will sell whisky till Hell freezes," defiantly declared an old mar named Patrick O'Connor, during th< hearing against him on a charge of sly-grog selling at the Te Karaka Court yesterday. O'Connor is becoming a well-known character in this district. Three months ago he was fined £SO on a similar charge, and elected to go to prison. He had barely been released, before he was again in trouble. . To-day, he was fined £IOO, or three months' imprisonment, and avowed his intention of "taking ii out in quod." THE LTQUOR TRAFFIC. Christchurch, June 17. The annual Dominion Convention of the New Zealand Alliance opened today. There were over 150 delegates present, every electorate being represented. The president, Mr Spragg, said this was the most important convention in the history of the movement. They were at the parting of the ways, and the majority, issue demanded an immediate settlement, and they were absolutely determined to have it settled, and they warned the Prohibition Party not. to allow any other movement to turn them from this purpose.
