On Saturday the Waitara School Primary boys journeyed to Strr.tWd to play their match in the. shield competition i The ame was played on ! the Show Grounds, commencing at 10.30. The Stratford boys lucked off with the wind, and soon, a» a result of a forward rush, N. Kivell scored the first try, which he goaled. Even play followed, till G. Kivell passed out of the bunch to N. Kivell, wha-pass-: ed to Stewart, who in turn gave a well timed,,pass to Dobson, who.scored. No goal resulted. Shortly after, from a scramble on the Greig crossed on the blind side of the coiner, the spell ending Stratford 11 Waitara 0. In the second ?pell the Stratford forwards took control rf the game, and as a result of fast following up Thompson scored. So furihei. score resulted, and , rhe game ended Stratford 14, Waitara 6. Of the Stratford backs Kivell was the best both in attack and defence, though Nolan and Stewart played ivtflJ. The best forwards were Thompson, G. Kivell and Lehmann, though ell played well. Of the Clifton Lacks Bernstein was the pick.
