o MESSRS MATTHEWS, BENNETT AND CO'S. REPORT. I Messrs Matthews, Bennett and Co. report a small yarding in their Ihglewood yards on Wednesday last. Bidding was dull for all classes, but practically everything was sold at the hammer at slightly reduced prices as follows:—Springing heifers (good) £5 10b to £7, others £4 10b, in calf Jersey heifers £4 15s. dairy cows £5 10s to £7 10s. store cows 32a to 375, steers 25s to 30s, F.m. ewes 6*. N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY GO'S. REPORT. On Monday, &th inst., we held a clearing sale at Tariki Road, Ratapiko, en account of Mr Angus Frasor. There was a large attendance of people, and tho bidding was good, but owing to the reserves on some of the machinery pud horses several loti were passed in. Prices for the day are as follows: —Double furrow plough .£14,. hay rake £3 10s, roller £5 15s, lambs 9a, ewes 7s, 4 and 6-tooth rtethors 15s, mixed weaners 25s 6d, in calf heifers 95s to 1255, bulls 60s, dairy cowa, Shorthorn cross and in fair condition, made from 130 s to 190 s, cows showing Jersey and Holstein cross, well forward, 160 s to 2205, cows backward in condition and late calvera made from 70s to 130 i. MR NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT. On Friday, June 6th, at my wakaiho yards, there was a small entry, of which a fair majority was sold as follows:—Weaner heifers £1 13s, store cows £1 10s to £3 2s 6d, forward cows £4 5s to £4 15s, fat cows (small) £5 lis, in calf heifers £4 4s 6d to £4 7s 6d, springing heifers .66 10s to £6 17» 6d, empty heifers £3 Bs, a line of seven dairy cows, spring calvers, averaged £7 12a 6d,
dairy cows, guaranteed sound, at from £2 16b to £6 ss, Jersey heiiar calved £B, f.ni. ewes 9s to 10s 6d,, lambs 9s. On Monday, at Toko, 15 months steers realised £3, store cows £2 17s 6d, colored weauer heifers £2 10#, small fat steers £6 3s, fat ewes 14s, lambs (small) 6s. At Stratford on Tuesday, 10th inst., owing to the very rough weather, I had only a small yarding with a good attendance of the public. Bidding throughout for most classes was slack, although most of the yarding was cleared at the hammer or privately. A good number of in calf heifers were yarded, sales of these being made at prices in favor of the buyers. Any fat cows offered met with very keen competition. Prices realised were:— Colored weaner heifors £2 12s 6d, grades £1 lis, 20 months in calf Jersey heifers (nice lines) £5 10s to £5 12s 6d, 20 months in calf grade heifers £3 4s 6d to £-1 9s 6d, empty heifers £3 10s 6d to £3 12s 6d, store cows £1 to £3 7s 6d, forward cows £4 12s 6d to £4 ISs 6d, dairy cows £6 12s 6d, guaranteed cows £5 springing heifers £6 10s, fat cows (small) £5 18s, 15 to 20 months steers £3 7s 6d, small lambs 6s 6d, empty forward ewes 10s lid. At Stony River on Wednesday, there was a small entry, sales being made as follov.s:—Store cows £2 17s to £4 7s Od, 15 months steera £3, springing heifers £7 10s Od to £7 ss, lambs 10s 3d, two or three extra good pens of Jersey in calf Heifers, all good colors,, quiet and showing well forward, sold exceptionally well at £7 10s to £9 2s, the latter being especially choice. Clearing Sale.—On Friday last, at Midhirtt, for Mrs C, M. Luders' sale there was a very large attendance, good competition for the dairy cows, which averaged about £8 10s, best cows, showing well forward, sold at from £9 to £ll 15s, others not quite so forward from £6 15s to £8 10s, latfl calvera £4 5s to £6 ss, weaner heifers £1 18s 6d, weaner steers £1 4& 6d! Jersey Bulls £3 4s 6d, gelding £23, mare £22 10s, milk cart £ll 10s, dog cart £6 15b, mower £8 ss, aged gelding £4 ss. ARGENTINE FROZEN MEAT.
