DOCTOR FOR WHANGA.
THE PRIME MINISTER'S REPLY. CONSIDERATION PROMISED. Recently Mr C. D. Sole, J.P., Acting Coroner, forwarded to the Premier a rider added to the verdict at tho inquest touching the death of a child which died while being brought irom Kohuratahi to Stratford for medical attention. The rider urged the Government to arrange for a medical man being stationed at Whangamomona. In reply to his letter, Mr Sole has now received the following communication :—■
Primo Minister's Office, Wellington, June 10, 1913. Deasr Sir, —I am in receipt of your letter of the 7th inst., forwarding a rider passed at a recent inquest, drawing tho attention of the Government to tho fact that a medical man should be sent to the Whangamomona district without delay. In reply, I have to state that I note your representations in regard to this matter and am bringing your communication beforo the Minister of Public Health, with a view to seeing whether it is possible to provide a medical officer at Whangamomona.—Yours faithfully, W. F. MASSEY. Mf Sole states that, if desired, he can supply the authorities with a scale of contributions such as are in use by friendly societies which will provide the salary of a medical man.
