OIL FUEL.
HOME OR FOREIGN? [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] \ London, June 13. Commenting on Mr Churchill's statement that the Government was considering tenders for naval oil from the Mexican Eagle and other companies, the Chronicle protests against the suggestion that the Government is influenced by the Master of Elibank's connection with Lord Cowdray's firm. The Standard oil is American, and the Shell Transport Co. Dutch, whereas the Mexican Eagle is British controlled. The Chronicle advocates the Admiralty developing oil fields within the Empire under its own management. It is unfortunate that the Shell Transport Company has secured a monopoly in Trinidad, but there are unexploited fields in Canada, New Zealand, and elsewhere.
