Mr Hughes states that as the result of investigation into alleged infringements of the electoral law in connection with the elections, the Government will proceed against, six newspapers and organisations. In four States the results of elections are not yet out. Mr Wood Fuller asks for a recount of Illawarra. It is officially stated that there are still 3000 votes not counted. DISCUSSING THE POSITION. The Hume scat’ is still in doubt. Melbourne, June 13. A meeting b fthe Cabinet discussed the situation, and at the conclusion Mr Fisher stated that they had done nothing. He added: ‘‘Why should we? There is still a large number of votes not epunted at Hume and there is no saying how it will effect the position, and we cannot do anything as the result of the election’s yet unknown.”

Subsequently there was a meeting of the Party, which Mr Fisher described as ‘‘a pleasant little gathering to welcome the new and express regret at the loss of old members.”

QUESTION OF NATURALISATION. Melbourne, June 13. A peculiar development has arisen over Mr Fielding’s election to the Legislative Council. The law provides that contestants for the Council must be ten years naturalised. According to the records, Fielding obtained naturalisation in November 1910. In the proceedings against newspapers and political organisations, Mr Hughes charges them with having misled the electors.
