o A BIG MOVE FOR FEDERATION. „.dY Electric Telegraph—-Copyright] [United Press Association. j (Received ' 9.25 a.m.) Sydney, June 13. The Wharf Laborers’ Union has adopted the constitution of the new transport workers’ federation, which it is intended will embrace the merchant service guild of Australasia, the Australasian Institute of marine engineers, the Federated Seamen’s Union of Australia, the Federated Carters and Drivers, and the Federated Waterside Workers’ Union. The Seamen’s Union has already adopted it. The engineers favour federation, but not in its present form. The carters and drivers have yet to deal with the question.
IN THE BLACK COUNTRY. (Received 9.45 a.m.) London, June 12. Forty thousand are on strike in Birmingham and the black country," and ill-feeling is increasing owing to the reports that the employers are organising a Federation to defeat the men. Three thousand strikers seized a waggon containing rations for the police who were guarding non-strikers at the Talbot steel tube works. They distributed the bread and cheese to the women folk and drank the beer, and afterwards stoned the works,
