SCENE IN THE COMMONS, j THE PREMIER’S SHRUG. j [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Received 10.40 am) London, June 11While Mr Asquith was addressing the House of Commons, a man named Lawrence Mervin, a member of the Men’s Suffragist Society, threw a bag of flour from the strangers’ gallery. It missed Mr Asquith, and burst close to the Speaker’s chair. Mervin also showered handbills on members, and shouted something about Davison. Mr Asquith, with a characteristic shrug of his shoulders, continued his speech amid cheers. Mervin has been detained. Suffragettes set fire to a confessional box of the historic Shunt Hubert’s Church, Great Harwood, but the damage was slight.

THE FIRE AT HURST PARK

Kitty Marion, an actress, and Clara Giveen, have been remanded on bail of £3OOO on a charge of firing Hurst Park grandstand. Material, which was found there corresponded with some found in Marion’s room.

At the suffragettes’ trial Detective Hawkins gave evidence that he found in Kennedy’s bedroom suggestions ol outrages which were in Clayton s hand writing, and he also found in Clayton’s rooms other suggestions, including one to interrupt the 1 render's game of golf, and another that the suffragettes in Parliament might scratch the Speaker’s face. THE DAVISON INQUEST. The Coroner, in summing up at the Davison inquest, said deceased did not rush the King’s horse particularly, but the act was committed with tne intention of creating a disturbance.
