SUNDRY SPORTS.

THE DAVIS CUP. (Received 1.5 p.m.) New York, June 6. Five hundred were present at the Davis Cup tie between America and Australia. The weather was fine, although there was a puffy south wind. The first of the singles was won by America by smashing play. Standing near the net, McLoughlin drove whither he pleased. Only at intervals was Rice able to employ playing tactics, whereon he was expected to rely, but McLoughlin frequently broke through his service. McLoughlin scored three sets, eighteen games, 97 points; and Rice, no sets, seven games, 61 points. The time taken for the game was fifty minutes.
