THE HON. THE PREMIER.
IN THE WAIKATO DISTRICT. [Per Press Association.] Hamilton, June 4. The Premier (Mr Massey) opened the Waikato Winter Show yesterday in the presence of 5000 people. In reply to a deputation regarding the site of the North Island agricultural college, ho said it was agreed that the Ruakura State Farm was the most suited for such a college. Mr Massey intimated that he intended to establish an agricultural board, composed of Government nominees and representatives appointed by agricultural societies in both Islands. Until that time arrived, the site of the college could not be fixed. The functions of the board would be to advise Ministers on agriculture and all matters of importance. In the past, the great industry had not received sufficient attention, and he was only able to give two or three hours a week to business, which was not enough, and which required special Ministerial attention. The Premier turned on the Frankton Borough electricity and water supply, costing £19,000, and afterwards was entertained at a banquet. He received deputations, and in reply to the No-License League regarding the reduction of the majority vote, he said a Bill was at present under consideration, and the Government did not intend to go 9 hack on anything they had promised.
