ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
FOUND DROWNED. Ashburton, Juno 3. The old man found drowned yesterday afternoon has been identified as Edward Jones, aged about 82 years. He was a stranger to Ashburton, and was staying at a boarding-house, where «jhe arrived from Christchurch on May 23. On Sunday morning he left the boarding-house for a walk, but did not return. He had a savings bank account of £IOO. Tho police are trying to ascertain if he had any relatives in the Dominion. KILLED BY A TRAIN. Dunedin, June 3. Maurice Flahive, a resident of Mil"tpii, was fatally injured at Wingatui this evening. • fie had just left the racecourse siding, and had proceeded to walk towards Mosgiel on the main line, when the second express from Dunedin to Invercargill came behind him. He failed to take notice of warning whistles, and was struck by the train and instantaneously. Jailed.
