. [Pek Press Association.] LAIDLAW LEEDS' WAREHOUSE. Auckland, June 1. A fire broke out" at 7 o'clock last night in the largo five-storey warehouse of Laidlaw Leeds Company, in Fort street. The outbreak originated in a heap of rubbish at the bottom of the lift well, and the flames went straight up the well, breaking out again in the bedding stored on the top floor. Auckland, June 2. Laidlaw-estimates the damage done by fire at between £25,000 and £30,000. The stock, a great portion of which was a total loss, was insured for £34,000 in the North British and Mercantile. The building owned by Mrs Robertson was insured in the Commercial Union for £BOOO. The origin of the fire is a mystery.
