A REMARKABLE TRAGEDY. DUE TO RELIGIOUS MANIA. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright | [Unitel Pbess Association.] Sydney, Juno 1. A remarkable tragedy occurred at Xorth Sydney. A young man, Drysclale by name, shot a friend, Miss Day, dead, and then seriously injured himself. Drysdale, who, it is believed, is Buffering from religious mania, made a rumbling statement at the. hospital. Ho stated that he had looked up to Heaven, and something told him that ho must take his life. He went, inside, and did the shooting. Ho added that the Bible referred to a new life hereafter. He wanted to go there with Miss Day.
(Received 9.36 a.m.) Drysdale is in a precarious condition. "THE WILL OF GOD." The criino is without motive. Day, who was 40 years of age, lived with che Drysdales for years and was treated as one of the family. Miss Day was on the best of terms with, her slayer, who a year ago attempted suicide, but since then has devoted almost the whole of his time lo the study of religious quesiions. He declared that the crime was the will of god.
