FIGURES FOR THE YEAR

The gross payments for old age pensions for 1912-13 were £41,5,760 a? against £406,256 in the previous year. The net payments, after deduction oi refunds and with the credit from tin endowment fund, totalled £397,069 The number of claims lodged last yeai was 2440, against 2975 in%he previous year, and the number" granted 206 f against 2318. Pensioners who diec numbered 1557, and the cancellation; were 633. The decrease in old ag. pensions this year is due to the fact that 385 old age pensions have beei cancelled by being converted into mili tary pensions. The gross payment? under the hearding of widows' pension totalled £22,114. The number o! claims lodged was 660. Of 791 claims for military pensions lodged 585 wen granted. The prospective liability for the current year exceeds £20,00.
