' Notwithstanding that ensilage 'as a fodder has much .to recommend it, its use so far has not become' general —in Taranaki at any rat^., ( .In order to encourage an industry' oi; such •importance to the dairy farmer, the committee of the Dominion Dairy Show are offering a prize of £5 for the best butter-boxful of ensilage exhibited at the coming show, and considering that this , Iheans'%hlJr’an infinitesimal portion of a silo pit, the inducement to try conclusions is one that •should be taken advantage of by a large number: , ITTs only by'comparison that the best material for-use in .the preparation of ensilage chn be ascertained, aibd v much good should result from a test of. various preparations of this fodder.
