A DIVORCE CASE. [Per Press Association.] Wellington, May 26. At tho Supremo Court to-day Albert Edwin Jjpn.es sought a divorce from' Jane Jones, on the grounds of adultery with Edmond Crow, who was joined as co-resppn'tlent, and from whom petitioner claimed £BSO damages. Jones declared that his' wife behaved indiscreetly with a man named Heron, going out with him in a motor-car and returning drunk, but lio forgave her that. Then they met Crow, who cam® to stay with the Jones family. Petitioner alleged that misconduct occurred on several occasions between his wife and Crow. Respondent and Crow, in evidence, denied the charges of impropriety, and the case was adjourned till to-morrow. NELSON SESSIONS.’

The Supremo " Court opened to-day before the Chief Justice, Sir Robert Stout. William Bromilow, Robert Grace Daniel Barnou, r Robert Ross and James Byers, miners, of Puponga, were charged that on April 8, 1916, at Puponga, they did with intent intimidate Samuel Walker, and did injure tho dwelling of the said Samuel Walker. The same arose out of the recent strike at the Puponga mine, when the whare of Walker, a jipiuo deputy, was destroyed by tiye, Barnou, Grace, and Byers pleaded guilty, and the other two not guilty.. No evidence was offered against the latter, who were discharged. Mr .1, P. J'Regan, for tho defence, pleaded for leniency, as the offence was committed under the influence of liquor, and luring a time off excitement, more hau with criminal intent. Tho men bad offered to recompense Walker. His Honor expressed regret at seeing .•ospectihle men in such a jbpsition, md said that if violence was to he resorted to in industrial disputes Jiere could he no justice, but only civil war and anxiety. Accused’s acton was no doubt largely duo to drink. He would put tho men on twelve nonths’ probation, and order them to iay £3O damages within twelve months md £5 each towards the expenses of he prosecution. “If you knock off tolacco and beer for the next twelve nonths, you can save £5 and will, he better men for it,” were His Honors ■lnal. words-, to the accused. boiMri*.-
