H.M.S. NEW ZEALAND.
The Mayor of New Plymouth has received the following telegram :■— “Captain Halsey advises that, weather permitting, the warship will be open to the public from 9.30 to 5 o’clock on the 17th prox., and desires that school children be first to visit the ship, being allowed at least one hour aboard before the genera] public. Shall he glad if you will arrange accordingly, and for children to be ready to embark on Tutanekai about 8.15 that morning.”
A subsequent wire states that Captain Halsey will be glad if the authorities will see that very small children are not brought on board the battleship. There is danger in talcing small children on board, and be wants to avoid any risk ol accident.
