[Per Press Association.] Brisbane, May 23 At the interstate conference of the Federal Licensed Victuallers’ Associa tions, the president expressed particular gratification that New Zealand was represented by one delegate. Ht said that they were there to suppress, drunkenness, realising that the drunk ard was no good to hotel-keepers, tc the community or to himself. Another delegate claimed that the hotelkeeper had a place in economic conditions second to none, not even to the church. There was nothing u the trade to bring discredit upon themselves so long as they bchave-c honorably. The report of the executive statec that free lunches had grown to a grsa. burden on the ‘trade through the selfish and stupid attitude of a small minority. If the lunches were con tinned for a time the minority snoult. be dealt with, and it should be made so hot for them that they would i glad to fall into line. The report wa: adopted.
