THE “BLACKPOOL” CASE.
RACING MEN IN COURT. [By Electric Telegraph—CopsaiGHx] | United Press Association.] (Received 10.5 a.m.) Melbourne, May 23. What has come to be known as “The Blackpool case,” wherein deep interest is being evinced in sporting circles, was concluded at the civil court before Justice Hodges. The case arose out of the disqualification of Frank Samuel Meyers, wellknown in financial circles, and others in connection with the running of the racehorse, Blackpool, at Moonee Valley on December 14. . Meyers' proceeded against Mr Casey, the chairman of tli© Victoria Racing Club, the stipendiary stewards and the secretary of the Moonee Valley Club, seeking orders to set aside the disqualification. The evidence showed that Meyers believed Blackpool was unable to win, and backed Prince Aurate, who was returned the winner; and he also laid the rider and trainer of Prince Aurate something to nothing to win.
Justice Hodges pointed out that Meyers told the stewards he backed his own Jiorse, whereas the money he put on was for friends. The application was dismissed.
