Burton, the gamekeeper who was arrested in connection with the disappearance of a farm servant named Winifred Mitchell, whose body was found buried in a shallow grace at Winiborne, has been committed for trial. Letetrs were found on the girl’s effects in Burton’s handwriting couched in affectionate language.

A witness stated that Burton admitted he intended to elope with the girl to Canada. i

A London cablegram on the 6th inst., stated that some boys saw an open grave on March 30, and on the following day Mitchell disappeared, saying she was going to Canada.

Xo search was mado until'' her false teeth were found in a wood a fortnight later. Search revealed the grave filled in. Mitchell was fully dressed and had been shot in the head. William Burton, gamekeeper, a married man, was detained in connection with the affair.
