The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratforo branch, report as follows•
On Tuesday, 20th inst., wo held our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards, when, owing to the cold and wintry weather, the attendance of the public and the yarding of cattle was smaller than usual, only about 270 head of cattle being yarded. Prices realised were as follows: — Store cows, small and low in condition, 30s to 76s for good framed cows. Forward cows 82s up to 120 s, for fats, hulls 60s to 82s 6d, 20-month steers 63s to 67s 6d, 20-month empty heifers 62s 6d up to 70s for good Shorthorn cattle, 20-month Shorthorn heifers in calf 75s to 91s, mixed weaners 30s to 355, weaner heifers showing Jersey-Holstein cross realised from 42s 6d to 47s 6d, Shorthorn weaner steeLs 25s for poor and small cattle, up to 35s for good and strong stuff, springing heifers 122 s 6d to 130 s During the week we have disposed of a considerable amount of stock privately at the following prices : —1 at cows in lines 1265, weaner steers 30s to 40s, Jersey-Holstein weaner heifers 47s 6d to 555, store cows 60s to 67. s 6d, dairy herds ordinary sorts 100 s to 190 s, lambs 7s 6d to 9s 6d,
6-tooth ewes 8s 6d to 9s 6d, 2-tooth wethers 14s to 14s 6d, 4 and 6-tooth ewes 14s 6d.
