THE THEATRE FIGHT.
OVER THE PLAY “CROESUS.” [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Received 9.55 a.m.) London, May 22. The Court of Appeal rejected the application by Hansen, the American actor, to restrain Arthur Bourchier from producing the play “Croesus.’ A cable on the 19th stated that a dispute over the ownership of the acting rights of M. Henri Rothschild s coming play, “Croesus,” led to lively scenes in the Garrick Theatre. Hansen, an American, obtained an interim injunction claiming the ■ sole rights, and that he is the employer of Arthur Botirchier. He forcibly ejected Bourchier’s staff. M. Bourchier secured a discharge of the injunction and invaded the theatre. He evicted Hansen and his supporters, chairs being used as weapons. Several were injured on both sides. ■ Hansen was arrested for threatening M. *Bourchier with violence.
