INFANT CHILD DROWNED. Christchurch, May 18. Josephine Robina Root, two years of age, whose parents reside at Sproydin, was found drowned in a hole on Saturday af tern on. At the inquest toiay before Mr T, A. 11. Bailey, coroner, evidence showed that some days ago a hole was dug in the garden for the reception of rubbish, and became full c. water as the result of the heavy rains experienced. About a quarter to c ree o’clock on Saturday afternoon, the little one was missed from the house, and on search being made she was found in the hole. Medical, assistance Vi as sent- for, hut the child was dead. A verdict of accidentally drowned was returned. KILLED BY FALL OF EARTH. 'Wellington, May 19. Donald Cameron, 33, employed on road formation work at Orongorongo, uas killed on Saturday by a fall of earth. Another man named Masters was also covered by the fall, but was cntricatcd uninjured.
