EXAMINATIONS FOR COMMISSIONS. [Per Press Association.] Christchurch, May 18. Colonel Heard gave a reporter a brief skeleton outline of a scheme i which is to he followed in the future 1 granting of commissions in the Terrijtoril forces. Starting from July of 1 next year, commissions would go by competitive examinations. All noncommissioned officers of territorial j forces and non-commissioned officers lof Senior Cadets of the rank of sergt. | will he eligible to compete, provided they are between the ages of 18 and twenty-five years. The positions as they fall vacant, will ho filled in order of merit, the senior men in the examination list being given the clumjo. in event of a successful candidate at ‘an examination not finding a place, he will have to sit again at the examinlatinn in the following July. Examinjatioiis are to he held for one year only, jin all cases candidates will require to Shave the approval of the officer comj man-ding the unit to which they are attached.
