A SAD ACCIDENT.
YOUNG WOMA N'g DEATH. Hawera, May 19
A shocking accident occurred at Ha tap u on Sunday, resulting in the death of Lucy Ann Dick, aged 20 years. It appears that her younger brother had been cleaning a gun, and having placed two cartridges in the breach, it accidentally exploded. The charge entered the girl’s arm and side. Her arm was amputated, with the hope of saving her life, but she died in the evening.
