HIS MAJESTY’S PICTURES. To-night’s change of pictures at Bernard’s will reveal some of the best if the new combine. The programme is one of the great variety and of intense interest, and is headed by the great Vitagraph star drama “Life of Cardinal Wolseley.” The plot is rather unique, but true to life, the nain characters include Hal Reid as The Cardinal, Teft Johnson as King Henry VIII, and Julia Garston as Queen Catherine. The picture fallows the great historical event very vividly, and pourtrays the leading scenes truly as follows :—King Henry, on seeing Anne Boleyn, a lady-in-waiting to the Queen, becomes infatuated. The Queen learns of the affair, and accuses King Henry, who becomes defiant. The Queen interviews the Cardinal, who excommunicates Henry because be seeks a divorce from Catherine. But the Archbishop of Canterbury agrees to help the King in a divorce. The Cardinal sends a letter to His Holiness the Pope in order to pass judgment upon the divorce, but the letter is intercepted. So Catherine witnesses the Coronation procession of Henry’s new wife. Cardinal Wolseley denounces the King for altering the Bible to permit of his divorce, saying; “Had i but served my God with half the zeal I served rny King, he would not in mine old ago hate left me naked to mine enemies.” The following star films are also included : “The Sheriff’s Prisoner,” “The Craven,” “Pathe Gazette,” “Scenes in Holland,” “A Day in London,” and a hunch of great laughter raisers.
