SOLAR OBSERVATION. [Per Press Association.] Wellington, May I I. In connection with the proposed Solar Physics Observatory, Miss Proctor, astronomer, who has just returned from Nelson, informed a Post reporter that Mr Cawthron would be prepared to give £ls*ooo for a solar observatory. This would he sufficient for the establishment and maintenance of a staff, and it was possible stellar work could bo undertaken. The fringe of Nelson commended itself to her as a suitable site, but the site would bo determined by an expert from England. Nelson people, Miss Proctor added, had generously offered tho sites, all of which would receive attention.
