MASONIC GRAND LODGE.
ANN UAL COMM INJ CATION. [Per Press Association.] Auckland, May 14. The annual communication of tho Masonic Grand Lodge opened in tin; Town Hall, to-day, Bro. Maurice Thompson presiding as Grand Master. Representatives were present from all parts of the Dominion. The financial report showed cash balances in the several funds as follows:—General £4073; fund of benevolence, £3207; W. and O. and A.M. Fund, £20,620; circular appeals, £1695; representation fund, £177; total .£30,030.
The report of the Board of Management of the W. and O. and A.M. Fund showed that twenty-eight annuities are now being paid, totalling £635 per annum. The state of tho fund leaves a margin of £2OO a year for the creation of further annuities.
The report of the Board of Benevolence showed that £329 had been expended during the year in casual grants.
The report of tho Board of General Purposes stated that six new Lodges opened during the year, making the present total 105. An agreement has been arrived at with the Grand Lodge of Scotland on the long-deferred question of the terms of recognition, and it was submitted to the Grand Lodge for ratification.
It was recommended that the next communication be bold at Christchurch.
The election of officers for the Taranaki district resulted: Grand standard hearer, Bro. Geo. H. Harlc; grand steward, Bro. Joseph Quin ; member of Board of Bcncral Purposes, Bro. P. F. Ralfe. Bro. Dobson was re-elected Grand Master.
