Another stage has been reached in the ease against Samuel Gompers, president of the Federation of Labour, John Mitchell (vice-president) and Frank Morrison (secretary), who, on June 25, were sentenced for contempt of court in connection with a trial involving a Labor question. The Court of Appeal sustained the conviction, but reduced the sentence on Gompers to thirty days, while the others were fined £IOO without imprisonment.
