AT LUNCHEON IN CANADA.
THE QUESTION OF STEAMSHIPS

The Chief Justice and others were present. Mr Sproule welcomed Mr Allen. Mr Borden referred to the great progress Xew Zealand had made in common with other portions of the
Empire. A great task lay before the Island Dominion. Sir Wilfrid Laurier referred to AllRed steamships, hoping that the Borden Government would carry out a scheme of direct lines between Van couver, Australia, and Xew Zealand It was absolutely neeosarv.
Mr Allen concurred with Sir AY Laurier on the necessity for mon steamships.
