The boilermakers' employed at Cockatoo Island dock called out the boilermakers, as they decline to work with imported shipwrights under what they claim are not Australian conditions. STRIKE LEVIES. j (Received 9.10 a.m.) Sydney, April 30. The South Coast miners are much disappointed at the amount raised in support of the strikers, being only €I3OO, but they have loud praise for tho prompt and substantial assistance from New Zealand unionists. Timaru, April 30. hTa Union stlaughtermen at Smithfield Freezing Works are out again, It is stated that when three of their number wore going to work this morning, on passing a free slaughterman, made objectionable remarks, to annoy him, whereupon tho three say ho pulled out a revolver and threatened to
•shoot. Ho says ho pulled out a pocket knife and jokingly held it out as a pistol. ■ Tho three reported the incident to the chief slaughterman as e. threat to shoot, and as a bodv they demanded tho dismissal of the man as a danger. The management, after hearing both sides, refused to dismiss tho inan, and the unionists (about forty) refused to work, and arc to bo paid off, leaving eighteen men on the board.
