A fire did £SOOO damage to materials and premises at the Buttonhole and Fancy Costume Company’s works and other tenants. A fire gutted St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church at Grafton, practically all the valuable contents being ■destroyed. The insurance was £SOO, and the damage is estimated at £3OOO. It is considered that bats, which visit the church in flocks, may have upset a brazier containing the sanctuary light. Adelaide, April 28. The National Incandescent Mantle Company’s premises were gutted by fire. The loss is £IOOO. The brigade prevented the fire. spreading to the Empire Theatre adjoining.
