I ATHLETICS. ATHLETICS AND CYCLING. Christchurch, April 2d. The dispute between the North Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union and the Canterbury Cycling and Sports Association had been settled. It was announced at a meeting convened by the president of the union last night that the union’s disqualification of Messrs Walter, Mealings, Poison and Revell would be removed, and there was now no obstacle to prevent the two bodies combining and continuing the government of the .sport under the union’s jurisdiction. It was decided that each body should control its own fixtures already announced
till the first Wednesday in July, when they will work under the centre, CRICKET. A TOURING TEAM. Sydney, April 30. There is some talk in cricketing circles of a team touring New Zealand and South America. NEW ZEALAND TEAM FOR AUSTRALIA. p—■* -, Christchurch, April 29. At a meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council Mr T. W. Reese suggested that a New Zealand team should visit Australia during the 191314 season, and outlined the following matches :—Play Auckland before leaving, then play Newcastle, Toowoomba, Queensland, Bathurst, New South Wales, Goulburn, Victoria, Ballarat, or Bendigo, and against two of th© South Melbourne Clubs, and on th© ret uni New Zealand should play Wellington. Air Reese suggested a iriininum guarantee of £SO from each association. He estimated the receipts it £7OO at least, and the expenditure not to exceed £BOO. The team should consist of. fourteen players,, including, > the manager. Eventually it was decided to send a team to Australia, ■.provided that .satisfactory,financial ar-.., < ra.ngements can be made. It was suggested that Auckland, Wellington,Canterbury and Otago should guarantee £75 -each".

St * The annual general meeting of the Taranaki Primary Schools Rugbyjycil hoot ball Association was held on Saturday. Mr Stratford, of Inglewwod, wils elected president and Messrs Johnson and Gray vice-presidents. Mr E. iary was elected secretary and treasurer. The committee now consists of Messrs Thomas, Bertrand, Day, Cutler and M’llroy. The association decided to inform ;be union that, after carefully considering its suggestion with regard to .he competition, the ‘manangement ommittee considered the proposal mpracticable and suggested that the New Plymouth district should comprise Central, West End, Fitzroy, and High School Preparatory, and that the Straford district consist of Stratford, Inglewood, and Waitara, the winner of the New Plymouth section :o travel and play off with the winner of the Stratford section. It was also resolved to ask the Union to accept the Pitman Cup from Inglewood for the champion team of the province.
BILLIARDS. GRAY’S INSOLVENCY. Melbourne, April 30. Joseph George Gray, the billiardist, has filed a schedule of insolvency. He states that this is due to adverse judgments in the Courts in England and Victoria. JBis debts are £2311 and his assets are valued at ,£8 15s. His sole debt consists of the amount of judgment and costs obtained by John Roberts. TENNIS. THE AUSTRALIAN TEAM. New York, April 28. The Australian tennis players hurried to New York from San Francisco after a few practices. They refused to discuss Brooke’s absence. THE DAVIS CUP. San Francisco, April 30. The form shown by Rice and Jones in practice matches leads Americans to think them dangerous opponents. The men played on an asphalt court ami impressed everyone with their quick and accurate service.
