THE OLD AND THE NEW.
[To The Editor, Stratford Post.] Sir, —In your leader of last evening on municipal elections you suggest that the new claimants should address the ratepayers re their policy. It is rather late iu the day to suggest this-,- but: if it, were the proper course to adopt, why not have asked tlie old douribil -fbr their 'policy, if they have rae?- The retiring Council undertook two Schemes of importance during their . stewardship. Firstly, the purchasing of the Electric Light Co.’s undertaking, which was wisely turned down by the raebpayers by a large majority. This blunder cost the ratepayers £I,OO, /The last splash was the recent loan proposals, which were illconsidered, and cost about £l7O. Surely it is those gentlemen whose only “policy” failed who should now make their views known.. It will be my endeavour, and* I’ feel sure that as one of the now candidates, if returned, to see’ that any schemes placed before the ratepayers will have ample consideration by the Council before such expenditure as above referred to is undertaken, —I am, etc., w; H. H. YOUNG.
