INCREASE ATTRIBUTED TO THREE CAUSES.

Archdeacon Boyce considers the increase of' intemperance, apart froir the commercial prosperity, attribut able to three causes, viz., a weakening of the moral fibre of the people genol-ally ; the neglect of the churchejand ether bodies to foster temperance sbeieties; and the shortening of the hours of labour, while the hotels were allowed to remain open.
