H.M.S. NEW ZEALAND.
AT GISBORNE. [Per Press Association.] ' Gisborne, April 28. The battleship arrived at 7 o’clock yesterday morning, and Captain Halsey.’swas formally welcomed by the Mayor. During the afternoon thousands of people cruised round the vessel in the harbor in steamers, but there was too much swell to permit of visitors being taken aboard. Heavy rain squalls came up during the evening, 'and the warship went to sea and “returned in the morning when the weather had moderated. Large numbers are visiting her to-day. The Mabris danced hakas as a welcome. The New Zealand sails for Auckland at 3 p.m.
