FLED FROM THE POLICE. (Received 8.15 a.ra.) London, April 27. On the police arriving, suffragettes, who were attempting to burn stands at Preston, Northend, fled, abandoning a portmanteau and tins of paraffin. SUPPORTER CONDEMS MILITANCY. (Received 8.50 a.m.) London, April 27. Mr Ackland, at Nottingham, advocated , the extension of the franchise to women, but condemned militancy as pure insanity. Suffragettes interrupted Mr Ackland throughout and were ejected. •
