THE CHANCELLOR’S OPTIMISM. The newspaper Statist declares that after carefully examining Mr Lloyd George’s calculations it concluded that the expected expansion was not unduly sanguine. THE SHORTAGE OF TERRITORIALS.

Colonel Seely, at Ilkstone, said a group of Liberals, including Mr Barnes and Mr Crooks, M.R., and others, had recommended the State to pay the insurance contributions of employers and employees in respect to all efficient territorials. He believed the shortage problem was solvable on these lines.
