FAREWELLS. [Per Pp.ess Association.] Wellington, April 24. Before leaving Wellington, Captain Halsey, of H.M.S. New Zealand, sent a letter to the Hon. Mr Bell (Minister of Internal Affairs) expressing thanks for the way in which the officers and men had been received and looked after in Wellington, and for the systematic and thorough manner in which everything had been organised. He also greatly appreciated the pati’eht and courteous behaviour of the general public on board the ship.
Mr Bell also forwarded a letter to Captain Halsey oh behalf of the Government expressing to the ship’s company i “Our thanks to the men For the example they have afforded the people of the Dominion by their conduct during the stay of the battlecruiser in Wellington, and of the effect of training and discipline in His Majesty’s service.” There had been no breach of order, and no trouble to miir the pleasure of the citizens.
