As a sequel to the railway strike/' summonses have been issued against fifty Darling Harbor railway porters lor alleged breaches of the Industrial Act. A TECHNICAL ’BREACH. Wellington, April 22. At the Magistrate’s Court the Lower Hutt Borough Council ’ was fined £2 for a breach of the carpenters’ award by employing non-unionists to do carpenters’ work and failing to notify the secretary of the Union. The laborers were employed making wooden frames for concrete during the enlargement of the reservoir. The Magistrate decided that the work was carpenters’ work, hence the defendants had been guilty of breach rff +be award.
