THE ART IN AUCKLAND
[Per Press Association.] ' Auckland, April 20. A crowd of some 20,000 persons gathered at the Domain yesterday to see “Wizard” Stone’s exhibition of a monoplane flight. The flight was not a great success. Stone rose thirty feet j in a graceful movement, but came to the ground in attempting to negotiate a hill at the back of the Domain. A section of the huge crowd of “dead-heads” outside the area then rushed the machine, and greatly damaged the tail, making further flight impossible. The airman was greatly hampered by the crowd before starting. He intends to make another flight in Auckland at a spot where the crowd can be properly controlled.
