Several senators express their intention of introducing amendments in the Senate, but it is believed that they will not press them sufficiently to cause a fissure in the party. - The opponents are now concentrating the fight on the omission of definite dates when the abolishment of the tariffs will be effective. New York, April 17. Manufacturers and importers are urging Congress to fix the date a year ahead.
