STRATFORD GUN CLUB.

TARANAKI CHAMPIONSHIP SHOOT. Thirty-four birds out of thirty-seven is the record of a day’s shooting at the traps by J. W. Greaves, whose great form yesterday won him the Taranaki Championship. There were twentythree contestants for the Championship, which was Held under the auspices of the Stratford Gun Club, and Greaves broke twenty of the twentyone birds. In the ten-birds match lie smashed nine, and only lot one past in the five-bird match. R. Knuckey and Whittle had wins in the smaller matches. The arrangements were excellent, for which Mr G. 1). Hunter, the Club’s secretary, is the responsible person. Results:— Taranaki Championship, 21 birds.— J. W. Greaves (20), 1; F. W. Whittle (16), 2; H. Aston, 16; R. Knuckey, 16; N. March, 16; T. Casey, 14; C. E. Hollard, 12; E. Kirkwood, 12; F. Foley, 11; G. 1). Hunter, 11; M. Fowler, 11; W. T. Bailey, 10; Harris, 10; H. Campbell, 10; A. C. Bublitz, 10; W. Minnix, 9; R. Linn, 7; C. Caulton, 7; C. Tuck, 6; C. Jackson, 6; N. Knuckey, 6; H. Gray and J. Minnix retired. In the shoot-off, for second place, F. W. Whittle broke three birds, H. Aston two, and R. Knuckey none. In the Ten-Bird Sweepstake, R. Knuckey (18) was first with nine birds, and Casey, Fowler and Greaves also shivered nine birds. Twenty-three competed. In the six-birds sweepstake, F. W. Whittle, of New Plymouth (18) Was first, Greaves, Holland and Kirkwood firing off with the winner. In the first miss out match Holland beat Hunter for first prize,and March won the second of these matches.
