SENTENCE OF DEATH.
PASSED ON BOY OF FIFTEEN. Melbourne, April 8. At Bendigb Supremo Court to-day, before Mr Justice Cilssen ifnd a jury of 12, Albert Simmonds (15) was charged with an offence against a girl under 10 years of age, at Specimenhill on February 18. It was alleged-that Simmonds committed tho offence whilst going home from school. He denied his guilt at first, but subsequently made a- statement to Detective Currie, admitting the offence; Simmonds 'Was found guilty, but the jury, recommended him to mercy on account of his youth and his physical condition.
Mr-Justice Cussen -said that he was of opinion that Simmonds was a fif and; proper person to be recomlnondc d for Royal mercy.-He directed that sentence of death bo recorded.
