JACK TARS ON LEAVE.

A GOOD TIME AT LEVIN. [Per Press Association.] Levin, April 16. The starboard watch of H.M.S. New Zealand, under Lieutenant Jones, came to Levin by special train yesterday and departed at 3.15. They were welcomed by the Mayor and Mr Robertson, M.P., and entertained at luncheon by the Government and passed away three hours pleasantly in 'ports and games. The Maoris of the district gave powhiris, hakae, and poi dances. The Maori team defeated the sailors at Rugby football, while they played a drawn game with the sailors under Association rules. Lieutenant Jones was presented with a Maori mat and an address of welcome by the leading I Maoris.
