, , Sydney, April 16. Regarding the , administration of Norfolk- Island, the Attorney-General ' explains that Mr Houston was not paid for hie services, but occasionally he received a bonus. He intimated that Sir Gerald Strickland did not <lesire to retain the position unless he received a regular remuneration. - The* Government grants £I6OO yearly thwards- the expenses of administration on . the island and is not disposed to increase the amount. --- T SirGetald Strickland is prepared to assume all the administrative duties-, therefore Mr 'Houston’s resignation was accepted. He denied any friction \ - over the matter.
