N.S.W. POPULATION FIGURES. The population of New Sduth Wales is 1,778,976, an increase for the year of 80,226. There was a record birth rato of 29.90 per 1000, which is the highest since 1895. Mr Dannevig, inspector of fisheries, reports that the last cruise of the trawler Endeavour in the Australian Bight disclosed 2000 square miles of hifhetto unsuspected fishing grounds. Excellent results were obtained. NORTH MT. LYELL MINE. (Received 9.55 a.m.) Hobart, April Hi The 1000 ft. level of the North Mt. Lyell mine is clear of water and the tliree bodies there will he recovered to-day. Only one body will then remain, it is supposed, at thellOOft.
