The Cannock Chase strike is ended. Non-unionists have been eliminated in some of tho mines.
THE BARRIER STRIKE
Syduey, April 9
.The Barrier strike position has become more accentuated. The Souii mine has .closed, and 1000 men are idle, making 1600 miners idle altogether, besides a considerable number of men in connection with the smelting works at Port Pirie. The Citizens' Committee lias decided to make a renewed urgent request to Mr McGowen to take over and run the Silverton trams.
ATTEMPTS AT SETTLEMENT

Sydney, April 10
The Government made a move to settle the Broken Hill strike, and Suggested that the Silverton Tramway Company should carry the'provisions and mails free, provided the union supplies the men ; also if the men resumed immediately would they allow the dispute to be refen-ed to the Wages Board. The company replied : "All pickets must he withdrawn first; then run the provision and mail trams at ordinary rates."
There was no reply to the second queston and the" Government made an offer to the parties to the Southern mining strike, the, terms including that the Government should amend the Act empowering tribunals constituted under the Act to consider the dismissal of employees.
The employers rejected the proposals.
DOCKYARD DISPUTE
